There’s too much fun stuff happening this week so I haven’t had time to deliver any good gossip or snarky updates but I absolutely have to remind you about Teacher Appreciation Week.
Does your kid have a fantastic teacher? Get that teacher a big, fat gift card!
Does your kid have a teacher who can’t teach her way out of a paper sack? Who isn’t qualified to teach a Ping-Pong class? Crappy mug time!
If money is really tight, please take the time to write a thoughtful thank you note to let your kid’s teacher know how much you appreciate ’em. And don’t make any spelling boo-boos. Okay? Okay!
Here’s my thank you to the lousy principal (woo-hoo! my opinion!) at my kids’ school who managed in just a few short years to take a top-tier school and turn it into a bottom-feeder school (in all of Kentucky, not just Jefferson County) because she apparently views outstanding teachers as threats and incompetent teachers as great allies. That means we had thirteen really terrific teachers and staff members leave in one calendar year. Pretty amazing!
Here’s what she drives:
What’s the difference between a BMW and a rose?
With a rose, the pricks are on the outside.
Thank you, Principal Janice Bobo, for the crappy job you’ve done, you know, based on our ranking on schooldigger.com going into freefall. What’s especially remarkable about this performance is that our free- and reduced-fee lunch enrollment has gone down – but performance tanked anyway. Wowwee! Your retirement can’t come soon enough!
Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!
Here’s 2006-07 rankings. Prior to this 2006-07, free- and reduced-fee lunch enrollment was well over 50% and academic performance was much better than this. Ah, well. So much for putting the blame for poor performance on poor kids, like the Crapola-Journal and JCPS so desperately want you to believe.
I appreciate the cards and notes the most!! Thanks for the plug!!
WOW! Very interesting……..My kids were at Bloom BEFORE Ms Bobo, and during MS BOBO. Yes, she completely ruffled feathers there. Yes, a principal can make a huge difference as Brandeis also experienced a few years ago.
I had my own run-ins with Janice and found her to be easily “maneuvered” albeit against her will! (Well, I do have a strong personality.) Maybe she finally got some back bone after I left!
I do feel sorry for the lovely teachers and staff there with whom I made friends and wish them……..better times!
Interesting post, Mr. Curry. Is that really the car she drives?
Who’s Mr. Curry? I’m sure he’s a very nice man!
And, yes, she drives a black 3-series highly-polished, always-gleaming Beemer convertible. If you dare to park in her covered, reserved Principal spot, she’ll call the cops on you – it’s not like she has anything else to do.
One evening, well after school hours, a parent parked in her spot to get easy access to the cafeteria for Market Day pick-up. Lo and behold, Bobo showed up to pick up something. Mind you, the spot right next to hers was wide open. She marched into the cafeteria and read folks the riot act for parking in her spot. This is not a joke. Some Market Day volunteers told me about this one. These were folks who DID like her, uh, before she was so grouchy about a stupid parking spot for her precious car. Hmm, ya kind of get the feeling that the car means more than the kids.
