I just need thirty minutes to blog about Brent McKim and his special lady friend and how they are trying their best to derail efforts to bring charter schools to Kentucky. The post will make you so mad, you’ll kick your dog.
Here’s just a hint of what’s to come:
The hard-working bloggers at theprincipal.blogspot.com (and I’m not being sarcastic) have all of the gorey details about what happened at the Interim Joint Committee on Education’s hearing on charter schools in August. Thank you to everyone who works so hard to put that blog together!
The good news in all of this nonsense is that the teachers union must really stink at rallying charter schools haters if the best testimony they could trot out came from a teacher (that be McKim’s lady friend) who taught in Arizona, which ranks 50th in the nation in education, and who has a degree from the for-profit University of Phoenix.
Hmm, so it’s okay if she has the option of obtaining an education from a for-profit organization but it’s not okay if kids from failing public schools have the same option. Wow! Mindblower! And, yes, I know… not all charters are for-profit.
Moving on.
Anyway, here’s a nice headshot of McKim and his Charter Schools Hater Lady from McKim’s Facebook page:
And this is a shot of the lovely couple taken by folks at theprincipal.blogspot.com during the charter schools hearing:

And here’s a kitty picture that’s right on topic:

And I’ll write more about this later. I am a busy bee, people! No time to blog!
HE has a girlfriend?
Wow, I was wrong on that one.
(She must be thrilled about the sweater-vests.)
“She’s a Phoenix.” LMAO
I know. Straight. Seriously.
When am I ever going to learn to quit taking a drink when I read your blog??? I am going to have to start setting aside money to cover the computer screens I am ruining when I get to your latest LOLZ cat pic. FUHREAKING HILARIOUS!
I don’t think I’ll be hanging that one on my door though…its kinda naughty…LOL!
Very funny stuff, as always! Wish there was a way to expose to general public that refusing neighborhood schools, JCTA interference, continued forced busing, etc. is about money. At least, this is what I believe. Why do they continue to obstruct and fight what appears to be very obvious common sense? What will they lose? I am talking BOE, JCPS, JCTA! I could be horrifically wrong but I just think there is more than general public is seeing. Anybody?
What they stand to lose with neighborhood schools is a lot of Title I money. Look at the census data for Bloom, St. Matthews, Field and plenty of East End schools that are considered Title I. There is no reason so many schools in relatively prosperous Jefferson County neighborhoods should benefit from a program that is intended to help low-income, low-performing children. Forced busing lets JCPS fake out the government to make more Title I money.
The more money JCPS gets, the more the teachers union gets, the more power they have to manipulate the system to benefit adults. I really don’t know how to get the word out on a bigger scale but Mandy at 84WHAS and Jake at thevillevoice.com are doing a really great job.
Thanx Voodoo! Yes, makes sense and this is how the puzzle is all connected? I knew there was a money trail and not a” we are wonderful people” explanation. What a major revelation this would be for people who have not asked enough questions. If only this understanding could reach the small screen at dinner time.Lots of head scratching and light bulbs going on!!!!!!
So she is or was part of the union board?

When are parents going to wake up and see this is about power and money…. NOT KIDS!!!
RECALL… RECALL
A cat picture is in the works on the details of the board. She is an at-large board member, from what I have seen.
Great eye on those minutes, Insider!
It hasn’t been about the kids for a long time. Too bad people haven’t been/aren’t paying attention.
