YUUUUUP. The race is over. That Kaplan guy everybody has been fussing about just got outgunned BIG TIME.
When your family fortune can cut $10 million loose to jumpstart construction of an East End bridge*, it makes the teachers’ union six-figure campaign contributions to board candidates look like Chuck E. Cheese tokens. (*Just Google the story about Mr. Jones, Sr.)
I just hope Mr. David Jones, Jr., doesn’t like forced busing. Anybody know? KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED!!!
Do you know if Kaplan is against the current student assignment plan? I like the idea of an actual PARENT of JCPS students being on the board. I am very interested in the race in District 7, where three people are running to replace Larry Hujo. If you can shed any light on those candidates I would appreciate it.
Nothing in his press release hints at his support for neighborhood schools. This despite the fact that he lives on Everett Avenue (according to his paperwork with the board of elections), just blocks from Bloom Elementary, where his children attend school. I hope he’s not one of those people, like outgoing District 2 board member Imhoff, whose kid attends the neighborhood school but thinks it’s a great idea to put kids on buses for hours a day.
Wait and see!
