Finally.  Your chance to ask Mr. Jones anything you want to ask – just call in  (502) 571-0970.  Speed dial!

Want a list of questions?  I’ll post some later to get the skids greased.

******

1.  What do you have to say to students who are forcibly bused for two to three hours a day to and from failing schools when they have decent schools in their neighborhoods?  For example, children in Smoketown are not able to attend highly-ranked Meyzeek Middle School and children in the West End are denied admission to Brandeis Elementary, the school your own children attended.  How do you justify this practice of denying admission to neighborhood children and busing them across town to make room for white, magnet school applicants?

2.  Do you care to comment about your financial connection to an extremely large and expensive piece of land that is located near the Brownsboro School campus in Oldham County?  I think this is a story a lot of people are interested in hearing about!  Let’s hear more.

3.  Please explain your connection to the local education initiative,  55,000 Degrees,  and the subsequent purchase of StraighterLine, an online education product, by Jefferson Community and Technical College.  Please tell us a little bit about your financial connection to StraighterLine.

4.  You own the venture capital firm, Chrysalis Ventures.  How did a former Chrysalis employee end up as the CEO of StraighterLine?

5.  Do you care to comment about the horrible reviews StraighterLine has received from several well-respected education reporters?

6.  You have received millions in financial compensation from Humana, which provides health insurance to JCPS employees. Please explain why you should be allowed to remain a candidate for school board given your financial ties to one of the biggest service providers to JCPS.  Please refrain from simply saying you vetted this with your legal staff.

7.  Why do you support hiring more administrative staff like assistant principals?  How exactly do six-figure administrators improve education?

8.  In your interview with the Courier-Journal, you and Pam Platt [of the C-J editorial board] bristled at the term “forced busing.”  Why do you feel forced busing doesn’t exist in Louisville?

Can you do it, readers?  Will you do it?

Make time to call in and ask Jones a few questions.
