What a surprise.  JCBE chairman and personal injury attorney, Stephen Imhoff, stands by his vote to forge ahead with the middle school forced busing plan.

Read about it here in Gabe Bullard’s March 14, 2011, post on wfpl.org:  School Board to Consider Delaying New Middle School Assignment Tonight

Here’s what a miffed Imhoff had to say:

“I think it’s time to move on and whoever wants to postpone it needs to move on and go with the plan that we already voted two or three years ago to do it. We voted to continue doing it and not to stop.”

I get the feeling he wants people to move on.

He later added this:

“You know, Gabe, we’re ramping up our legal staff big time in anticipation of all of those early morning fender-benders, bus driver smackdowns and pepper spray-enhanced slugfests.   Putting these kids on buses for two or three hours a day is totally a pressure cooker for the nerds and geeks who are getting bullied and assaulted but, you know, it’s all in the name of diversity.  And what do I care?  My kid attends the neighborhood school.”

Okay.  Just kidding about that last quote.

I’m not kidding about this:  The most shrill supporter of Forced Busing 2.0 does not put his child on a crunk bus for two hours a day.  His kid attends Highland Middle School which is his neighborhood school.  Imagine my surprise when my neighbor pointed him out in the Highland Middle School yearbook.  Given Imhoff’s strident support of forced busing, I was sure his child attended a school in the far reaches of the district.  Wrong!  Prior to attending Highland, Imhoff’s child attended Field Elementary.  Also the neighborhood school.  2 for 2!

Let’s take a look at the elementary schools in Imhoff’s cluster. There are some real clunkers!

Notice the disclaimer on the screengrab from the School Finder, below.  “The district cannot guarantee placement in the school that serves the student’s address.”

Unless, of course, Daddy is on the Board of Education.

See how this paternalistic forced busing scheme works, folks?  It’s okay to boss around Jefferson County families, put kids on buses that are zig-zagging all over the city and raise property taxes to foot the bill for this nonsense.  What makes all of this even worse is that we’re getting bossed around by people who are unwilling to put their children through a 5:00 a.m. wake-up and two or three-hour daily commute.

Do as I say, not as I do!

The board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at VanHoose Palace, 3332 Newburg Road.
